Emma Rodgers, the owner, has managed with PC POS since 1986. This large, attractive store has books, music, and specialty items. The three sales stations located on a center island in the store capture sales and share the information with the back office.
Emma relates, "When the computer was first presented to me, I thought 'Aw, heck... I don't need that.' Then the dealer showed me how simple it was and so I decided to try it. It has everything in one program; point of sale, inventory, ordering, sales reports, word processing... everything I need. It has saved a lot of time doing weekly and monthly reports. It's just a real time saver."
She continues, "It helps me locate a book. If a customer comes in and asks for a certain title, I pull up the title and go right to where it is in the store. We sell a lot of educational material. I have the books grouped by department for grade levels. K for kindergarten, P for preschool and so on. I can print out a list when a school asks what we have. My mother is with a library in Arizona. We can print out a list for them and it is current... even books that have just arrived."
Emma cautions, "The main thing is to backup... It's critical. Backup the data. I take care when entering new items to conserve space. It has been a real time saver."
