Local shop loves SureOne and SellWise
Auckland's vintage clothing shop Retro bought a SureOne to replace a fancy cash register that had served the shop until then.
Virginia Easton, managing director of Retro American was looking for a solution that could help her expand her business, when she came across the SureOne. She wanted a POS solution for her stores in Auckland and Wellington, plus the one she was about to open in Manukau. "I wanted a system that would let me manage three shops efficiently. And it had to be easy to use," says Virginia.
"I fell straight away for the IBM SureOne POS computer, because it has a small footprint and it's compact. Instead of having all these machines sitting on my counter - with bundles of cables hanging out from all sides - I now have one PC that includes a keyboard, credit card reader, receipt printer, monitor and cash drawer."
Virginia selected CAP SellWise software to let three SureOne PCs take care of everything from accounting and stock orders, to printing labels and creating sales reports. "I am not much of a computer person, so I wanted a program that's easy to use. SellWise filled the bill, whereas other software I had seen was just too complicated."
According to Virginia the new system has improved her efficiency and will let her run a more profitable business. "Ordering and receiving stock is much easier now and I can do a stock take in all three shops from home - at night on the PC. I use a modem to link into the SureOne, and I can even generate sales reports while I'm sitting back and enjoying a glass of wine."
Virginia uses the new reports to analyze which products are moving slowly or quickly. She then orders more stock of the items that are selling out fast. "I now have a better overview of what's happening in the business, and ultimately that will improve my profitability. I've gained more control over my business, and the system has improved my lifestyle by giving me more peace of mind and letting me work from home."
The SureOne is not only a cash register, but also a powerful personal computer that runs on platforms like Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and OS/2 Warp. It runs thousands of off-the-shelf and custom made applications, to turn the terminal into a cash register, an inventory control system and a bookkeeper - all rolled into one.
The SureOne solution is ideal for the New Zealand market," says Luigi Cappel, Manager Systems Division, at Monaco Corporation. With a Cyrix 5x86 Pentium class chip on board it will prove even more popular."
